Recap: International Year of Cooperatives Kick-off

Snowy weather didn't dampen the spirits of those who attended MFC's International Year of Cooperatives Kick-off party on Jan. 26th.

Healthy snacks dotted the room, and Board member, Nancy, treated everyone to delicious kale soup perfect for a winter night.

Hands-on activities, from coloring to lego building to photo fun made for casual conversations. The highlight of the evening was the egg race, which although close, ended in a solid win by Board President, Kate, and co-op supporter, Peter.

Antics ensue. Watch the egg race video here

Are you a farmer or producer?

Building a co-op is about building and strengthening our community. To date we've been spreading the word about cooperatives, earning social capital and increasing member-owners.

But our co-op community extends even further- to its farmers and producers.

If you're a farmer or producer interested in supplying the co-op once our store is open, you are warmly invited to our first Farmers' Forum on Wednesday February 22nd at 6pm.

The forum is intended to be a candid, informal discussion about the co-op’s plans, farmer demands and how we can strengthen our regional food system, together.
